Ακούει κανείς;

Άλλο ένα άρθρο από τους Νew York Times που κατά τη γνώμη μου πρέπει οπωσδήποτε να διαβαστεί - αν και είμαι σίγουρος ότι παρόμοια νέα έρπονται δώθε κείθε τελευταία στον ελληνικό Τύπο και τα Μέσα ούτως ή άλλως. Θέμα οι αμερικάνικες (και ισραηλινές) ειδικές δυνάμεις κατά τη διάρκεια των Ολυμπιακών και το γεγονός ότι τα μέλη τους θα είναι οπλισμένα. Σκόρπια εξοργιστικά αν όχι γελοία quotes (η έμφαση δική μου)...

What is going to happen, asked one Greek official, when an American agent sees a car weaving in and out of traffic? It is not uncommon Greek driving behavior. But an American might think it is a suicide bomber, and shoot, one official said.

Αυτό που μου έκανε εντύπωση περισσότερο ίσως - εξού και το παρόν - είναι ότι τα άνωθι δε θα γίνουν γνωστά. Ο κόσμος δηλαδή δε θα έχει επίγνωση ότι δίπλα του στέκεται κάποιος που είναι οπλισμένος, trigger-happy (έστω και εκπαιδευμένος trigger-happy) και ο οποίος δεν τον καταλαβαίνει (ούτε στη γλώσσα ούτε στη συμπεριφορά) καθώς και με άδεια (από την αστεροέσσα) να πυροβολήσει. Δε θα με παραξένευε καθόλου αν υπήρχαν θύματα για κανένα απολύτως λόγο.
